Carmela Gaetano (“we”, “us”, the “Owner”) operates the Yogi Around website. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, the legal bases we rely on, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable laws.

What data we collect

  • Newsletter: your email address, when you subscribe.
  • Contact & retreat requests: your name, email, phone (if you provide it) and the content of your message, which reach us by email so we can reply and help organise your participation.
  • Anti-spam: when you submit a form, Cloudflare Turnstile processes technical signals (such as IP address and browser data) to distinguish humans from bots.
  • Usage data & server logs: like most websites, our hosting automatically records technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) for security and to keep the service running.
  • Aggregate analytics: we use a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool that measures visits in aggregate and does not use cookies or identify you.
  • Embedded content: if you choose to load external content (our class calendar via Momoyoga, or Instagram/TikTok posts), the relevant provider may receive your IP address and set its own cookies. These load only with your consent.

Why we use your data, and the legal bases

  • To send the newsletter — your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)); you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To answer contact/retreat requests and organise a retreat — performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures (Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • To protect our forms from spam and keep the site secure — legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • To understand aggregate traffic — legitimate interest, using data that does not identify you.
  • To show external embeds — your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)).

Cookies & tracking

By default we use only strictly necessary cookies. External embeds set third-party cookies only after you consent. See our Cookie Policy for the full list and how to change your choices.

Who we share data with

We rely on trusted providers that process data on our behalf, under data-processing agreements:

  • MongoDB Atlas — database hosting.
  • Sanity — content management and image delivery.
  • MailerLite — newsletter delivery.
  • MailerSend — transactional and contact emails.
  • Cloudflare — form anti-spam (Turnstile) and privacy-friendly analytics.
  • Google — fonts are self-hosted; the Google reviews shown on the site are fetched by our server (we do not send your data to Google when you browse).
  • Momoyoga — class-schedule widget (loads only on your request).
  • Meta (Instagram) and ByteDance (TikTok) — only if you load an embedded post.
  • Our hosting provider — serving the website.

We do not sell your personal data.

International transfers

Some providers are based outside the EU/EEA (for example, in the United States). Where that happens, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep your data

  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
  • Contact/retreat emails: for as long as needed to handle your request and our relationship, then deleted.
  • Server logs: for a limited period, for security and maintenance.

We keep data only as long as necessary for the purposes above, or as required by law.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access your data and obtain a copy;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased;
  • restrict or object to processing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior processing.

Children

This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; the “last updated” date reflects the latest version. Where changes affect consent-based processing, we will ask for renewed consent where required.
